Fans to decide Wayne Rooney future

England striker Wayne Rooney will decide his future at Manchester United by assessing the reaction of the home fans. The England talisman, who has been linked with a move away from the club throughout the summer, will leave it to the fans and the kind of reaction he gets from them in the next two matches before deciding whether to quit the club for greener pastures.

Rooney continues to be linked with a move away from the Theatre of Dreams and Chelsea have already registered their interest in the striker with a bid worth £ 20 million which has been turned down by the Premier League champions, who insists that their star striker is not for sale at any price. Several reports have linked Jose Mourinho to return with a second bid worth a whopping £ 40 million in the next couple of weeks.

However, Wayne Rooney is set to decide his future either in United’s friendly match against AIK in Stockholm, Sweden or in Rio Ferdinand’s testimonial at Old Trafford on the 9th of August against Sevilla. If he gets a warm welcome, he is ready to tell manager David Moyes that he is willing to bury the hatchet and stay on at the club.

However, if he is greeted with jeers, much like the situation during the club’s trophy parade in Manchester after their title triumph, Rooney will try and push through a move to Chelsea, which is his preferred choice of destination.

Wayne Rooney was left out of the last few matches at the end of the campaign last season by Sir Alex Ferguson who admitted that his mind wasn’t in the right place to take the pitch after asking for a transfer but his camp has insisted the player has not handed in a written transfer request.
