Louis van Gaal reacts angrily on question about Boxing

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal reacted angrily when questioned about the boxing celebration performed by Wayne Rooney after scoring a goal in the 3-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday.

A private video featuring Rooney was recently released by a popular national daily. The England international is seen having a game of boxing with Stoke City defender Phil Bardsley at his home. A punch from the former Manchester United teammate resulted in Rooney being thrown offguard and knocked out for a few minutes. The 29-year-old mocked this video by performing a similar gesture after scoring the goal.

Van Gaal refused to discuss about this celebration, as he felt that the media raising questions about the private life of a player is certainly not right. As one of most high profile players within the United team, Rooney’s activities are closely monitored by the National press.

After struggling with form for much of the last month,
Rooney has been used in a central striking role once again by van Gaal. This move has paid rich dividends after the striker has now scored five goals in his last six appearances.

Only a few weeks ago, Van Gaal moaned about the lack of a 20 goal per season striker in his squad.
"In what sort of world do we live in? I can't imagine we are talking about such a thing. That a newspaper are paying a lot for a video and that I have to answer questions about it. What is this world, twisted? I think it is ridiculous that we have to talk about such things," said Van Gaal. The manager, though, will be very satisfied with the way his team moved within two points of arch rivals Manchester City. The possibility of finishing as runners-up or even winning the title has once again come up for United.
